Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, London

kiwi

Today is the day of the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in London. It takes place on the first Thursday in December. Each year the people of Oslo give a Christmas Tree to the people of London to say "thank you" for British support during the Second World War. The Christmas Tree from Norway is usually 50-60 years old, over 20 metres tall. It is decorated with 500 white lights. After the Christmas season it is recycled.
